Muhammad Danjuma is an author, journalist, and activist who has made significant contributions to his community through his impactful work in media and literature. His journey in journalism began in 1989 at Gaskiya Tafi Kwabo, Northern Nigeria’s pioneering vernacular newspaper. Over the years, Danjuma has written extensively, primarily in Hausa, and actively engages with various Hausa media platforms, solidifying his reputation as a pivotal figure in the region’s media landscape.
Beyond journalism, he played a crucial role in promoting and contributing to the success of Nigeria’s first community-based university, the first Islamic university in the country, and the first private university in the Northwest—Al-Qalam University, Katsina, Katsina State.

Key Achievements
In 2023, the foundation mobilized over ₦5 million to support less privileged families, providing food and cash assistance to approximately 500 households. The foundation also paid the fines to release seven youth inmates from prison and settled liabilities for 20 women in financial distress.
Community Empowerment
Danjuma’s commitment to his community extends beyond journalism. Inspired by his interactions with influential figures like the late Inspector General of Police MD Yusuf, he established the Katsina Vocational Training Centre in 2000. The centre aims to rehabilitate and empower youths involved in drug abuse and political thuggery by providing vocational training in over 27 trades. Since its inception, the centre has trained 11,551 individuals, transforming countless lives.
The centre’s achievements include the establishment of government-owned outlets like the Babbar Ruga Rehabilitation Centre and the Katsina Youth Craft and Daura Vocational Centre. It also collaborates with the state NDLEA command to train drug addicts during rehabilitation.
In addition to vocational training, the centre created the MD Yusuf Research and Documentation Centre, which organizes annual seminars and workshops to enhance research capabilities and advance knowledge.
