POLICE PRESS RELEASE

KATSINA STATE POLICE COMMAND DIARY.

The Katsina State Police Command under the leadership of CP Ali Umar Fage, psc(+), mnips, has succeeded in foiling a cattle rustling attempt by bandits and recovered 40 cows in Dutsin-Ma LGA, Katsina State.

On May 9, 2026, at about 0033 hrs, operatives attached to Dutsinma Division while on routine patrol received a distress call from Karki via Gago Village regarding the movement of heavily armed bandits with a large number of suspected rustled cattle. The patrol team responded swiftly and intercepted the criminals.

On sighting the police, the bandits engaged the team in a gun duel. Through superior tactics and firepower, the hoodlums were overpowered and forced to abandon the rustled livestock and flee the scene with gunshot wounds.

The area was immediately cordoned off, and a search and recovery operation was conducted. A total of forty (40) cows were successfully recovered as efforts are being sustained to apprehend the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks in the area.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, psc(+), mnips, while commending the swift response and exceptional display of professionalism by the officers, reaffirms the command's commitment towards sustaining the fight against banditry, cattle rustling, and all forms of violent crime across the state.

The command appreciates members of the public for their continuous support by providing timely information that aids our operations. We urge residents to remain vigilant and continue to report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through our official emergency lines.
