Former Councillors Forum of Katsina State congratulate His Governor Dikko Umar Radda and the people of Katsina on 33rd Anniversary of Democracy Day
As Nigerians commemorate this historic milestone, we are reminded that the journey to democratic governance was neither smooth nor easy. It was marked by sacrifice, resilience, courage, and an unwavering commitment by patriotic citizens who stood firmly in defence of justice, freedom, and the people's right to choose their leaders.
Today, as we continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy, we must never forget the profound lessons of June 12. The significance of this date remains deeply etched in the history of our nation as a symbol of the triumph of the people's will over oppression and the enduring strength of democratic ideals.
The Former Councillors Forum therefore calls on all Nigerians, particularly the people of Katsina State, to remain active participants in the democratic process. Democracy flourishes when citizens are engaged, responsible, and committed to promoting accountability, tolerance, unity, and good governance. We must resist the temptation to become mere onlookers in the collective task of building a stronger and more enduring democratic culture.
As we celebrate this year's Democracy Day, we pay glowing tribute to the heroes and heroines of the June 12 struggle both living and departed whose sacrifices paved the way for the democratic freedoms we enjoy today. Their courage, patriotism, and dedication to the cause of justice must never be forgotten, and their efforts must not be in vain.
The Forum also commends Governor Dikko Umar Radda for his commitment to the development of Katsina State and encourages all stakeholders to continue working together in the interest of peace, progress, and prosperity.
