The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has condemned the worsening security situation in the country, calling for immediate and decisive government action following the death of Gen. Rabe Abubakar (rtd).

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, expressed deep concern over the continued wave of insecurity across Nigeria, describing the situation as alarming and unacceptable.

Ishaq also delivered a strong criticism of the administration of President Bola Tinubu, alleging that it has failed to provide adequate protection for citizens amid rising cases of violence and abductions.

He referenced recent incidents, including the kidnapping of schoolchildren in Oyo State, as further evidence of what he described as the widening gap between government assurances and the realities on the ground.

“It is a clear indication that the administration’s rhetoric is far removed from the harsh realities faced by our people daily,” Ishaq stated.

According to him, this situation informed the PRP’s earlier call for the resignation of President Tinubu, arguing that leadership without “capacity and integrity” only deepens fear and insecurity among citizens.

Ishaq maintained that Nigeria possesses sufficient human and natural resources to effectively combat insecurity, but lamented what he described as a lack of political will to confront banditry and kidnapping.

He stressed that the time for statements and symbolic gestures was over, insisting that the country now required firm and sustained action.

“The time for mere words and superficial gestures has passed; Nigerians need actions that are firm, strategic and relentless,” he said.

The PRP spokesperson urged Nigerians to insist on greater accountability from the government and to push for concrete measures aimed at ending insecurity and securing the release of all persons in captivity across the country.

He further called on authorities to move beyond press statements and demonstrate genuine commitment to ending violence and impunity.

“The enemies of peace and progress shouldlno longer register victories over us, enough is enough,” he added.

Ishaq concluded that Nigerians deserve leadership that is courageous, imaginative, and compassionate, stressing that urgent change is needed to restore confidence and security in the country.
