The Katsina State Government has approved the commencement of the selection process for its Special Foreign Scholarship Programme, under which qualified indigenes will be sponsored to study Medicine (MBBS) in Russian universities.
This was announced in a press
statement issued by the State Coordination Committee on the Special Foreign Scholarship Programme.
According to the statement, Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, has granted approval for the immediate opening of applications for eligible candidates across the state.

Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to indigenes of Katsina State who meet the following requirements:
Possession of Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC/NECO) with at least eight credits in one sitting
Required subjects must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and English Language
A minimum of two distinctions is also required
Applicants must be between 16 and 23 years of age at the time of application
Only candidates who attended public (government-owned) secondary schools are eligible
Selection Process
The statement explained that one candidate will be selected from each of the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
It added that selection will be strictly merit-based, with the best-performing candidate from each LGA chosen through a competitive examination.
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to upload the following documents during registration:
Academic credentials
Birth certificate
Certificate of indigene status
Endorsement letter from the Local Government Chairman
All applications must be submitted via the official portal on or before Friday, 26th June 2026.
Examination and Shortlisting
The Coordination Committee stated that shortlisted candidates will be contacted through their phone numbers and email addresses for details of the examination date and venue.
