The 10th Senate has processed 676 bills and resolved 1,286 motions since its inauguration, underscoring its legislative efforts to drive governance reforms and national development.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Sen. Yemi Adaramodu, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja while reviewing the achievements of the upper legislative chamber over the past three years.

He said several of the bills passed by the Senate have already been signed into law by President Bola Tinubu, while others are at different stages of legislative consideration.

According to Adaramodu, the Senate has also treated numerous public petitions, debated key national issues and conducted screenings of ministerial nominees and heads of government agencies.

He noted that the chamber has maintained transparency in its activities, allowing Nigerians to monitor and evaluate the performance of their elected representatives.

The lawmaker highlighted the passage of tax reform legislation as one of the Senate’s major accomplishments, alongside efforts aimed at improving electricity generation and distribution through reforms in the power sector.

“The Senate has remained committed to strengthening the economy, improving governance and supporting infrastructure development through effective legislation,” he said.

Adaramodu added that lawmakers have consistently scrutinised budget proposals from the executive to ensure public funds are directed toward critical sectors.

He identified security, food security and infrastructure as key priorities in budget allocations, stressing their importance to the country’s growth and stability.

Commenting on the recent Ekiti governorship election, the senator described the outcome as a strong endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration by the people of the state.

He attributed the governor’s victory to achievements in infrastructure, healthcare and education, as well as his ability to unite political stakeholders across party lines.

Adaramodu further noted that support from former governors, lawmakers, labour groups, students and community organisations contributed significantly to the governor’s re-election success.

According to him, the election result reflects a collective commitment by Ekiti residents to continuity, progress and sustainable development.
