Governor demands review of cross-border trade in Zango

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has received in audience a high-powered delegation from Zango Local Government Area, where he directed the immediate review of challenges facing traders in the area.

During the delegation courtesy visit to the State Government House, the group express appreciation for the impactful projects being implemented by the administration, particularly in healthcare, infrastructure, and security.

Speaking during the meeting, Governor Radda stated that he does not expect praise for fulfilling his duties, stressing that governance is a responsibility entrusted to him by the people.

"I do not expect appreciation for doing my job. It is my responsibility to serve the people of Katsina State with fairness, dedication, and without bias," the Governor said.

Addressing concerns raised by traders, especially issues related to cross-border trade and the activities of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Governor directed that the matter be thoroughly investigated.

"I have directed that the concerns raised by traders be carefully examined. Necessary measures will be taken to ensure a fair and lasting resolution between the affected community and the relevant authorities," he added.

Governor Radda further reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the principles of merit, justice, and equity in governance across all sectors.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of Zango Local Government, Hon. Babangida Aliyu Yardaje, said the visit aims to appreciate the remarkable progress recorded under the current administration.

The Chairman also applauded the nomination of Rt. Hon. Tasi'u Musa Maigari, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as Nigeria's Ambassador to The Gambia, noting that the recognition reflects the administration's commitment to rewarding competence, experience, and dedicated service.

Also, Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Bala Salisu Zango, explained that the delegation comprised district heads, community leaders, women, youth, and other stakeholders from across the local government, irrespective of political affiliation.

He further introduced parents of beneficiaries of the state government's foreign scholarship programme, who expressed gratitude for what they described as a transparent and merit-based selection process.
