The Katsina State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing domestic financing for child birth spacing commodities to improve access to family planning services across the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, stated this on Thursday, 6 August 2026, at a dissemination meeting on the domesticated guidelines for Katsina State-funded procurement of Child Birth Spacing (CBS) commodities held in Katsina.
Funtua said the guidelines would help institutionalise government-led financing mechanisms, reduce reliance on donor support and ensure the continuous availability of quality child birth spacing commodities in health facilities.
He said the initiative was part of the state government's commitment, under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, to strengthening reproductive, maternal and child health through sustainable financing and procurement of essential health commodities.
The meeting was organised by the Katsina State Primary Health Care Agency (KSPHCA), with support from the Access to Medicines Initiative (AMI) and SIDES.
It brought together government officials, development partners, programme managers and other stakeholders, who pledged to support the implementation of the guidelines and strengthen sustainable financing for reproductive health services in the state.
