FRSC Promotes 7,472 Personnel in Major Shake-Up to Boost Professionalism, Road Safety

In one of its largest career advancement exercises in recent years, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel, a move aimed at rewarding excellence, boosting morale and strengthening the agency’s capacity to deliver safer roads across the country.

The promotion affects 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 7,472 personnel nationwide.

The Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Osondu Ohaeri, announced the development in a statement issued on Friday, describing the exercise as part of the FRSC’s commitment to recognizing hard work, professionalism and dedication among its workforce.

According to him, the promotions were granted to personnel who have distinguished themselves through competence, discipline and years of dedicated service to the nation. He noted that the exercise reflects the corps’ ongoing investment in human capital development and efforts to build a highly motivated workforce capable of meeting modern road safety challenges.

Ohaeri emphasized that the elevation of the affected personnel goes beyond a mere change in rank, saying it represents a fresh call to duty and a greater expectation of leadership, accountability and impactful service.

“The promotion is not just a reward for past achievements but a challenge to perform at a higher level and contribute more meaningfully to the corps’ mission of safeguarding lives on Nigerian roads,” he said.

As part of the promotion process, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers have been directed to conduct decoration ceremonies for the newly promoted personnel within their respective commands.

The decoration exercise is scheduled to hold from August 26 to August 28 in line with the corps’ administrative guidelines on the decoration of newly promoted officers and marshals.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, while congratulating the beneficiaries, described the promotion as both a reward for dedication and a responsibility that demands greater commitment.

He stressed that every new rank attained within the corps must be reflected in improved professionalism, stronger leadership qualities, enhanced accountability and better service delivery to Nigerians.

According to Mohammed, the true strength of the FRSC is not measured solely by its patrol vehicles, technological tools or enforcement structures, but by the quality, integrity and commitment of the personnel tasked with protecting road users from the dangers of unsafe road practices.

He urged the newly promoted officers and marshals to view their elevation as a mandate to work harder, lead more effectively and uphold the highest standards of service.

The Corps Marshal reminded them that every additional stripe, pip or insignia comes with increased expectations from the corps, the Federal Government and millions of Nigerians who rely on the FRSC to ensure safer highways.

He further underscored the importance of maintaining discipline both on and off duty, treating members of the public with respect and preserving the integrity of the organisation at all times.

Mohammed noted that the promotion exercise comes at a critical period when the corps is intensifying nationwide operations, deploying technology-driven initiatives and expanding public enlightenment campaigns aimed at reducing road crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations.

He said a motivated and professionally developed workforce remains essential to achieving these objectives and delivering measurable improvements in road safety outcomes across the country.

“The newly promoted personnel must carry their new responsibilities with renewed purpose and remember that within the FRSC, rank is not merely worn, it is earned, entrusted and ultimately judged by the quality of service rendered,” he stated.

The Corps Marshal congratulated all the promoted officers and marshals, expressing confidence that they would justify the trust placed in them and contribute meaningfully to the corps’ mission of making Nigerian roads safer for all.
