How an 80-Year-Old Former Ward Head Died in Bindadwa: Son Arrested as Police Probe Shocking Incident

Residents of Mundadu Village in Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State have been left in shock after police arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father, a respected community elder and former ward head.

The suspect, identified as Sada Tambai, is accused of causing the death of his father, Adamu Tambai, in an incident that has stirred outrage and sadness within the community.

According to the Katsina State Police Command, the tragedy unfolded on September 21, 2026, when the Divisional Police Headquarters in Bindawa received an emergency report from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina.

The report indicated that the elderly man had been found lying motionless in front of his residence under circumstances that immediately raised concerns among community members.

Police detectives were swiftly deployed to the scene to assess the situation and commence investigations.

The victim was evacuated and rushed to a nearby hospital in a bid to save his life. However, medical personnel later confirmed him dead on arrival.

As investigators began piecing together the events leading to the death, suspicion reportedly fell on the deceased’s son.

Police said preliminary findings led to the arrest of Sada Tambai, who allegedly confessed during interrogation to striking his father on the head with a stick.

The motive behind the alleged attack was not disclosed by the authorities.

The late Adamu Tambai was said to be a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village and was known within the community as a respected elder.

His death has therefore generated widespread concern among residents, many of whom were stunned by allegations that his own son could be linked to the incident.

Following the arrest, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed and comprehensive investigation.

The police said detectives would thoroughly examine all aspects of the case before concluding their findings.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the command assured residents that the matter would be handled professionally and in accordance with the law.

The statement added that the suspect would be arraigned before a competent court once investigations are completed.

The command also reiterated its commitment to ensuring that justice is served and urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist investigations into criminal cases.
