Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has assured that his administration's support for all security initiatives remains total, as the state moves to strengthen its security architecture.

Governor Radda gave the assurance when he received a high-powered delegation from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), led by Major General H. I. Mabeokwu, at Government House, Katsina.

The Governor said the 1,000 forest guards approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will strengthen security operations and complement the military, other security agencies and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps.

“The deployment of these forest guards will enhance surveillance, improve intelligence gathering and strengthen security coverage in vulnerable communities,” he said.

Governor Radda described President Tinubu's approval of the programme in June 2026 as a decisive step to secure forests and protect rural communities, noting that recruits were drawn from local communities.

He stressed that sustained collaboration between the Federal Government, Katsina State Government and security institutions is essential for lasting peace.

Earlier, Major General Mabeokwu said the programme is designed to equip the guards for forest surveillance, protection of rural communities and support to conventional security agencies.

He said the initiative will complement existing structures, especially the Community Watch Corps, and boost operational capacity in hard-to-reach areas.

The governor received the delegation led by the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Mua’zu and top members of the state executive council.

Members of the ONSA delegation included Major General H. I. Mabeokwu; Mr. Sani Sani (ONSA); Brigadier General I. M. Lafal (Defence Headquarters); Commodore C. Mbanu (ONSA); Mr. I. O. Shotayo (ONSA); CP A. W. Akpan (Nigeria Police Force); Mr. Kabiru Lawal (Department of State Services); Mr. Shehu Yusuf (National Intelligence Agency); ACG Kabir (Nigerian Correctional Service); Captain U. N. Akalezi (Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service); Mr. S. Ringim (ONSA); Mrs. Adeola Dunkura (ONSA); and Wing Commander A. I. Bashir (ONSA).
