Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has sparked attention after urging Nigerians to “PRAY FOR TINUBU!” while drawing a comparison between President Bola Tinubu’s planned trip to Saudi Arabia and the overseas travels of former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Sowore made the remark in a post on X, where he recalled that Yar’Adua travelled to Germany for medical treatment before later proceeding to Saudi Arabia.
He linked that episode to Tinubu’s repeated trips to France and his planned visit to Saudi Arabia, using the comparison to call on Nigerians to pray for the incumbent president.
“Like Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who initially sought medical treatment in Germany before eventually travelling to Saudi Arabia, Tinubu has made repeated trips to France and is now heading to Saudi Arabia,” Sowore wrote.
His comments draw a parallel between the travel histories of the two presidents. However, the post, as quoted, does not establish that Tinubu’s planned Saudi trip is for medical treatment.
Tinubu is expected to travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah, the Islamic pilgrimage performed in Makkah.
