Senator Ned Nwoko has called on Nigerians, bloggers and social media users to stop spreading false reports about the health and alleged death of his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, urging the public to give her the privacy and support she needs to recover.

Nwoko made the appeal in a statement shared on his social media account on Monday, expressing concern over what he described as fabricated stories and harmful speculation about the actress's personal life and health condition.

The senator said Regina had endured significant difficulties and needed compassion rather than public criticism, rumours and sensationalised reports, particularly at a time when she was trying to recover.

According to him, the actress deserves love, understanding and the opportunity to focus on her well-being, adding that their children are being properly cared for.

"Regina has been through a lot, more than many people may realise, and right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover," he said.

Nwoko also drew attention to a video Regina released in October to mark her 25th birthday, in which she appeared in a wheelchair while speaking about some of the health challenges she had experienced.

He said the video gave the public an indication of what the actress had been going through and urged people not to use her condition as an opportunity to judge her or create further distress.

The senator maintained that his concern for Regina's welfare remained despite the difficulties in their relationship, adding that his decision to make certain aspects of their private affairs public was also influenced by concerns about her well-being.

However, he expressed particular displeasure over social media publications falsely announcing the actress's death and circulating misleading information about her health.

According to Nwoko, Regina comes across many of the reports herself, and their circulation has caused her additional emotional distress rather than helping her recovery.

He therefore appealed to her fans and supporters to discourage the spread of such content instead of sharing or amplifying it for online attention.

Nwoko also issued a warning to bloggers and individuals deliberately publishing false information about Regina's health, death or private affairs, disclosing that such publications were being documented for possible legal action.

"We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels," he warned.

He particularly cautioned operators of anonymous social media accounts who allegedly manufacture misleading stories to generate clicks, traffic and engagement, urging them to stop the practice.

The senator concluded by appealing to Nigerians to respect Regina's privacy and allow her the time and support necessary to concentrate on her recovery, stressing that fabricated reports and unnecessary public speculation would only make an already difficult situation worse.
