In a significant breakthrough in the fight against insecurity, several notorious bandit kingpins operating in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State have voluntarily surrendered their arms and released kidnapped victims.

The development is part of the ongoing arms surrender and disengagement initiative spearheaded by the leadership of Operation Fasan Yamma in collaboration with critical stakeholders.

Among the repentant kingpins are Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black. The group reportedly laid down their weapons and handed over 16 kidnapped persons—comprising seven women and nine children—on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

The former bandits expressed their willingness to renounce criminality and embrace peaceful living within the community. They further pledged to release the remaining hostages still in their custody by Sunday, June 15.

All rescued victims have since been handed over to the appropriate local government authorities for medical evaluation and reintegration with their families.

Military sources confirmed that all surrendered arms have been secured, while troops continue to maintain a strong presence in the area to ensure lasting peace and security.

The Katsina Communities and security agencies have described the development as a positive step towards restoring stability and rebuilding trust in affected communities.
