The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended officers of the Nigeria Formed Police Unit (NFPU) for their professionalism, dedication, and outstanding service under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

In a statement issued on Thursday, 20th June 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP praised the officers for their exceptional conduct during their deployment from 16th October 2023 to 14th June 2025. The personnel, now redeployed to administrative and command duties under the NFPU-12 at the AUSSOM Police and Mission Headquarters in Mogadishu, were recognized for their adaptability and high-level performance in a challenging international environment.

The officers, originally trained as part of the Formed Police Unit, were tasked with Individual Police Officer (IPO) roles with minimal induction. According to a commendation letter from the AUSSOM Police Commissioner dated 12th June 2025, they displayed strong intelligence, discipline, and commitment, mastering complex administrative and operational responsibilities that played a crucial role in ensuring mission continuity and operational efficiency during a vital period of strategic transition.

Among the redeployed officers are CSP Shehu Gani Ahmed, SP Abraham Akhojie, SP Olivia Ugochukwu, SP Aliyu Makwa, DSP Jack Prince, DSP Odey Kingsley Lukpata, IP Nwite Sunday, and Sgt Ayeni Richard, along with others.

Their contributions have not only earned praise from AUSSOM leadership but also from international peacekeeping stakeholders, further enhancing Nigeria's reputation in global peace operations.

IGP Egbetokun described the officers as "exemplary ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force" and encouraged them to maintain their discipline, professionalism, and service excellence. He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to supporting peacekeeping efforts and fostering international peace, security, and cooperation.
