The Katsina State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with a notorious burglary syndicate operating in parts of Katsina metropolis, recovering several stolen items including electronics and household valuables.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, 19th June 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the breakthrough followed a tip-off received on 13th June at about 10:16 p.m. from a vigilant resident in the Kado area, alerting authorities to suspicious movements.
Responding swiftly, police operatives from the GRA Division apprehended two suspects: 28-year-old Lawal Hamza, alias ‘Honourable’, of Saulawa Quarters, and 33-year-old Nafi’u Sanusi of GRA, Katsina. Recovered from the suspects were an operational tricycle believed to be used during burglaries, a mattress, a 55-inch LG plasma television, a refrigerator, and a bunch of keys.
During investigation, one Muhammad Lawal of Saulawa Quarters identified the recovered items as his property. The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and named one Abdulrahman Sama’ila, currently at large, as an accomplice. Police say efforts are underway to track down the fleeing suspect.
In a related development, reports of house burglaries on 8th and 15th June were filed by residents of Behind NYSC Orientation Camp and Sabon Titin Kwado. Victims, including Abubakar Musa and Abdulaziz Usman, reported the theft of various items such as inverters, televisions, refrigerators, women’s wrappers, handbags, and gas cylinders.
Following a discreet investigation, detectives arrested 37-year-old Binta Ibrahim of Sabuwar Unguwa, Kofar Kaura Quarters, found in possession of some of the stolen items. She allegedly confessed to receiving the goods from Lawal Hamza, the suspected leader of the syndicate.
The Katsina State Police Command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to recover all remaining stolen property and bring all accomplices to justice. Investigation continues.
