KATSINATIMES, Nigeria

The Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) has alerted motorists and other road users to exercise extreme caution while travelling along the Katsina–Kano highway following the partial collapse of a bridge between Tashar Bala and Abukur.

The warning was contained in a statement issued by the Authority's Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Marwana Kofar Sauri, on behalf of the Director General, Retired Major Garba Yahaya Rimi.

According to the statement, the bridge sustained severe damage after heavy rainfall in the area, resulting in the partial collapse of a section of the structure and creating a potential hazard for road users.

KASSAROTA advised motorists travelling from Katsina towards Kano, as well as those approaching from the Abukur axis, to reduce speed and exercise heightened vigilance when approaching the affected section of the road.

The Authority urged drivers and other road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and safety directives in order to prevent accidents and safeguard lives and property.

"KASSAROTA remains committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of motorists across Katsina State and beyond," the statement said.

The Authority also assured the public that it is working with relevant agencies to address the situation and implement necessary measures to restore safety along the corridor.

Residents and travellers were further encouraged to continue observing all traffic rules and regulations while commuting within and outside the state.
