A fresh controversy has erupted over the growing war of words between prominent politician Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed and former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, after claims emerged that the outspoken politician had quietly moved to settle their differences.

The alleged peace move, however, has been flatly rejected by Naja’atu, who says she neither sent emissaries to Pantami nor authorised anyone to negotiate an apology on her behalf.

The controversy followed reports circulating across social media that Naja’atu had dispatched representatives to the former minister’s camp in an attempt to reconcile with him after her recent remarks about Pantami during an interview.

Her comments, which attracted considerable attention, were widely interpreted as a strong attack on the former minister and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 election.

But rather than confirming any attempt at reconciliation, Naja’atu has described the reports as a deliberate attempt to rewrite the narrative surrounding the controversy.

She alleged that supporters of Pantami were behind the story and were trying to give the public the impression that she had backed down from her earlier position or regretted what she said.

Naja’atu said she was not aware of any meeting between her representatives and Pantami, insisting that she had not authorised such an engagement.

“Even if my people met him, I am not aware,” she said.

Her response effectively challenges the claim that intermediaries had approached Pantami to broker peace or apologise over the remarks.

The politician went further, dismissing the entire reconciliation story as false and describing it as yet another attempt to mislead the public.

“This is another lie,” she said.

The dispute comes as political manoeuvring intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly in northern political circles where prominent figures are increasingly taking positions and trading accusations over candidates, alliances and political influence.

Pantami, a former minister and prominent figure in northern politics, is expected to play a major role in the political contest in Gombe State, while Naja’atu remains an influential voice whose interventions frequently generate strong reactions across the political space.

For now, however, Naja’atu appears determined to put an end to speculation that she has made peace with Pantami behind the scenes, maintaining that no apology or reconciliation effort has come from her camp.

The question now is whether the denial will finally put the social media claims to rest or trigger another round of political exchanges between the two camps.
