* Assures Thorough Investigation, Urges Residents to Remain Calm

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has mourned the killing of renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka, describing him as a voice for peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony, while assuring that the circumstances surrounding his death would be thoroughly investigated.

The cleric was reportedly killed alongside an associate by unidentified gunmen on motorcycles outside his residence in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area on Monday night, October 26, 2026.

Governor Radda expressed shock over the incident, extending his condolences to the bereaved family, the Islamic community and all those affected by the loss.

“I urge the bereaved family to take solace in the will of Almighty Allah and remain steadfast in faith during this difficult period. May Allah grant them the strength and patience to bear this painful loss,” he said.

The Governor assured that security agencies would intensify efforts to investigate the killing, identify those responsible and bring them to justice.

He appealed to residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information that could assist the investigation, cautioning against actions capable of escalating tensions or undermining public peace.

Governor Radda described Sheikh Masussuka as a cleric known for his Qur’an-centred teachings, promotion of peaceful coexistence and interfaith understanding, as well as his opposition to violent extremism and radicalisation.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and comfort his family, associates and the entire Muslim community.
