The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, led a team of top CBN officials to a statutory briefing with the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions.

The briefing, held at the National Assembly, Abuja, provided a platform for discussions on the current state of the country’s banking sector, insurance regulations, and broader financial system stability.

Mr. Cardoso was accompanied by the CBN Deputy Governor for Economic Policy, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi, and Deputy Governor for Financial System Stability, Mr. Philip Ikeazor.

In attendance from the Senate were the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Mukhail Abiru, and the Vice Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Yari. The meeting forms part of the CBN’s regular statutory engagements with the National Assembly to ensure alignment between monetary policy and legislative oversight.

Details of the discussions have not been made public, but such briefings are typically aimed at reviewing policy implementation, regulatory frameworks, and challenges facing Nigeria’s financial institutions.
