Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has described the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, as a monumental loss not only to Bauchi State but to Nigeria and the global Muslim community.
Governor Sule stated this during a condolence visit to Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, at the Government House in Bauchi. He prayed that Almighty Allah grant the soul of the late cleric eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
Leading a delegation of top government officials, Governor Sule said the visit was on behalf of the Government and people of Nasarawa State. He noted that Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, a prominent leader of the Tijjaniyya sect, commanded a large following in Nasarawa State and beyond.
According to him, the late Islamic scholar dedicated his lifetime to impactful initiatives, particularly in the propagation of Islam, moral uprightness, and societal values, leaving behind a legacy that would endure for generations.
In his response, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed deep appreciation to his Nasarawa State counterpart for the condolence visit and prayers. He described the gesture as a demonstration of solidarity and respect for the late cleric’s enduring influence.
Governor Mohammed recalled the immense contributions of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi to national unity, noting that the Islamic scholar positively touched countless lives through the promotion of peaceful coexistence among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.
The late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential Islamic scholars, whose teachings and leadership transcended regional and religious boundaries.
