President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

The President left Nigeria on Sunday, December 28, and is expected to proceed from Europe to Abu Dhabi to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, scheduled to hold in early January.

President Tinubu is attending the summit at the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The annual, weeklong event brings together global leaders from government, business and civil society to discuss pathways for sustainable development.

The 2026 edition of the summit is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go” and will focus on translating ambition into concrete action across innovation, finance and human development, while showcasing strategies for advancing global sustainability goals.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
