Proceedings continued on Tuesday morning as the 2026 edition of Shehu Week entered its third day in Katsina, with scholars and participants reflecting on the life, legacy, and teachings of the renowned Islamic leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse (R.A.), in an atmosphere of gratitude and spiritual reflection.

The session opened with supplications led by Malam Abdulwahab Ladan, followed by recitation from the Holy Qur’an to seek divine blessings.

The first paper of the day was presented by Sheikh Prof. Abdurrahman Aboki on “Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse Al-Kaulakhi’s Guidance on Prayer (Salat)”. He provided detailed insights into the Sheikh’s strict adherence to prayer, emphasizing sincerity, devotion, and the importance of spiritual presence beyond physical actions. The paper was reviewed and discussed by Prof. Sagir Adam.

The second paper was delivered by Imam Sheikh Muhammad Nasir Adam, National Chairman of the Council of Imams in Nigeria. His presentation, titled “Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse Al-Kaulakhi: His Views and Teachings on Politics,” was delivered in Arabic. Imam Nasir Adam examined Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse’s understanding of politics as a tool for societal reform, peacebuilding, and ethical engagement with political leaders. The paper was later reviewed by Sheikh Aminu Sadisu Dikke, who highlighted its relevance to contemporary global political engagement.

The third and extensive lecture was presented by the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, Imam Prof. Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari, on “Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse Al-Kaulakhi: His Methods and Strategies in Resolving Religious Challenges.” Drawing from the classical work Ithaf al-Sami‘ wal-Rawi, Prof. Maqari described the lecture as a valuable intellectual resource for scholars and students of Islamic knowledge. Although the paper was initially assigned for review by Sheikh Goni Dr. Muneer Sheikh Ja’afar of Katsina, permission was granted for Prof. Maqari to both present and review his own lecture.

After the Zuhr prayer break, the fourth paper was presented by Sayyida Dr. Habiba Yahaya Alfadarai, wife of the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja. Her paper, “The Travels of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse Al-Kaulakhi in Propagating Da‘wah and Guiding Society,” examined the Sheikh’s extensive missionary journeys and outreach efforts. The paper was reviewed by Dr. Mahmud Abubakar Garba.

Due to time constraints, the Asr prayer break was observed before proceedings resumed. Sheikh Abdullahi Uwais Limanci then delivered a detailed paper on “Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse’s Commitment to the Implementation of Shari‘ah.” He noted that 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse’s arrival in Katsina, describing the year as historically significant for the state.

This was followed by a presentation from Sheikh Dr. Lawi Sheikh Atiku Sanka on “The Style and Methods of Da‘wah of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse Al-Kaulakhi.” He urged disciples and Islamic leaders to adopt the Sheikh’s approach to preaching in order to promote peace, tolerance, and mutual love within society.

The final paper of the day was delivered by Sheikh Dahiru Imam Katsina on “Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse Al-Kaulakhi: His Reverence for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and His Warnings Against Disrespect.” The lecture drew extensively from Qur’anic verses and authentic Hadiths to underscore the centrality of respect and proper conduct towards the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Among notable participants at the event was Sayyida Hauwa’u, wife of Sheikh Goni Dr. Muneer Sheikh Ja’afar of Katsina.

The third day of the programme witnessed increased attendance, with participants arriving from within and outside Nigeria to express gratitude to Allah for the life of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse, who was widely celebrated for his profound love and reverence for the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Attendees described the day’s sessions as intellectually enriching, noting that the lessons learned would remain beneficial throughout their lives.

The programme concluded with closing prayers and the recitation of selected verses from the Diwan of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse (R.A.), as participants prayed for divine assistance in applying the knowledge gained during the blessed gathering.
