Katsina State has achieved a significant milestone in its pursuit of clean, affordable, and sustainable energy with the official commissioning of the Green Ville LNG & CNG Station, the first facility of its kind in the state.
The historic project was inaugurated by His Excellency, Dikko Umaru Radda, Executive Governor of Katsina State, who described the development as a major step towards promoting alternative energy solutions, reducing fuel costs, and addressing environmental challenges.
Governor Radda commended Green Ville for its strategic investment in Katsina, stating that the project positions the state as a leading hub for the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) technology in Northern Nigeria. He added that the initiative aligns with his administration’s agenda on economic diversification, environmental sustainability, and improved energy access.
The commissioning ceremony drew a high-level audience of government officials and stakeholders, including Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly; Hon. Ali Abu Albaba; Hon. Aminu Garba Sai Baba; Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Ida; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Power, Dr. Hafiz; Engr. Abubakar Abdullahi Matazu, General Manager of the Rural Electrification Board (R.E.B.); Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur Jikmashi, Director-General of the Katsina Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA); and Dr. Faisal Kaita, Commissioner for Lands.
Also present was the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Engr. Saidu Aliyu Muhammad, who was represented by the Katsina State Coordinator of the Authority, Umar Muhammad. He emphasized the need for strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory guidelines to ensure safe and efficient operations at the facility.
The Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isa Miqdad AD Saude, along with traditional and community leaders, also attended the ceremony, highlighting the strategic importance of the project to grassroots development and energy security in the state.
The event further underscored strategic partnerships with City View CNG Automobile Synergy and Katsina Go CNG, both collaborating with Green Ville to expand access to clean and affordable fuel solutions across Katsina State.
Top executives of Green Ville present at the event included Mr. Joseph Adedoyin, Group Head of Administration; Mr. Amith Singh, Head of Commercial; Mr. Gokul, General Manager, Refill Sales; and Mr. Chiemela, Brand Manager. They outlined the station’s operational capacity and projected benefits for motorists, businesses, and the general public.
In his remarks, Engr. Mustapha Sada Abdullahi, a lead engineer specializing in vehicle conversion from petrol to CNG, explained that the initiative would significantly reduce fuel consumption, lower carbon emissions, and provide a more cost-effective energy option for vehicle owners.
The Katsina State Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Alhaji Aminu Wali, welcomed the Green Ville LNG & CNG project, describing it as a timely intervention that would create employment opportunities, boost local technical capacity, and stimulate economic growth.
Stakeholders described the Green Ville LNG & CNG Station as a major catalyst for job creation, skills development, and sustainable development in Katsina State, noting that the project is expected to attract further investment in clean energy infrastructure across the region.
The commissioning of the station represents a landmark achievement in Katsina State’s energy transition, with the potential to transform the transportation sector, enhance local expertise, and promote the widespread adoption of environmentally friendly energy solutions.
