The Katsina State Police Command haso successfully repelled a bandit attack in Dandume Local Government Area, neutralising two suspected armed bandits and recovering exhibits during the operation.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred in the early hours of February 17, 2026, at about 12:45 a.m. Suspected armed bandits reportedly stormed Gidan Soda village in Dandume LGA, firing sporadically. During the attack, a 30-year-old woman, Hassana Muhammad, was fatally shot before security operatives arrived at the scene.

Upon receiving the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) swiftly mobilised officers who, in collaboration with the military and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), moved to confront the attackers.

The joint security team engaged the assailants in a gun duel, forcing them to retreat due to superior firepower. During a subsequent sweep of the area, the bodies of two neutralised suspected bandits were recovered, along with a Boxer motorcycle believed to have been used in the operation.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment, in collaboration with other security agencies, to safeguarding lives and property across Katsina State.

The statement was signed by DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu on behalf of the Commissioner of Police on February 18, 2026.
