The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old woman, Hadiza Ibrahim, for alleged involvement in serial shoplifting, recovering stolen items valued at ₦10,102,000 in Katsina metropolis.
According to a statement issued on March 27, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the arrest followed a report received on March 4 from the Chief Security Officer of Green House, Katsina.
Police said the suspect was identified through CCTV footage at the premises, where she was allegedly seen stealing various items from a shop. Acting on the footage, operatives monitored her movements and subsequently arrested her.
During investigation, officers conducted a search at the suspect’s residence, where multiple items believed to have been stolen were recovered. These included 274 sets of shoes, 37 pairs of veils, 67 sets of sportswear, 54 sets of children’s wear, 315 sets of socks, and 45 women’s wrappers.
Other items recovered were 123 pairs of caps, nine handbags, three cartons of spaghetti, 24 bottles of perfumes, five cartons of soap, fashion jewellery, and a sack containing cooking seasonings and spices.
Police said the recovered items have been identified by their owners, while additional victims, mostly shop owners, were also traced during the investigation.
According to the statement, the suspect confessed to the offences and was found to have a history of shoplifting within the metropolis.
The police confirmed that she has been charged to court for prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State commended officers involved in the operation and urged business owners to strengthen security measures to prevent theft.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
