Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged that the will of party members will guide the conduct of primary elections in the state, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention.
Radda gave the assurance on March 27, 2026, while addressing about 2,400 delegates from Katsina State at Toprank Galaxy Hotel in Abuja.
He said the state leadership of the All Progressives Congress would ensure that party primaries at all levels are transparent, fair, and reflective of the aspirations of members.
“In Katsina, we will ensure that the people’s choice remains paramount,” the governor said, adding that the primaries scheduled for May would require cooperation among stakeholders to ensure a peaceful process.
Radda urged delegates to remain calm, disciplined, and patient before and during the convention, noting that their conduct would reflect the strength and unity of the party.
He also commended party members in the state for what he described as their discipline and cooperation during ongoing party activities, including the successful conduct of ward, local government, and state congresses.
The governor said a consensus arrangement could be adopted where necessary to promote unity within the party, adding that Katsina State has retained its position as the seat of the party’s National Legal Adviser.
Radda expressed optimism that the forthcoming convention would strengthen the party’s institutional framework and deepen internal democracy.
He also praised Nentawe Yilwatda, describing him as a capable technocrat with the experience to lead the party effectively.
Earlier, the Katsina State APC Chairman, Bashir Gambo Saulawa, described the convention as a key step toward preparing the party for the 2027 general elections.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee and Chief of Staff, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, commended delegates for their discipline and cooperation.
The governor was accompanied by senior government officials, including Jabiru Salisu Tsauri and Shamsu Sule Funtua, among others.
