Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) Holds Strategic Meeting with Zonal and Unit Commanders

The Katsina State Safety and Road Traffic Authority (KASSAROTA) has held a strategic meeting with its Zonal and Unit Commanders as part of ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and strengthen security across the state.

Addressing participants at the Authority's Headquarters in Katsina, the Director-General of KASSAROTA, retired Major Garba Yahaya Rimi, explained that the meeting was convened in compliance with the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, mandating all relevant security agencies to engage their personnel on strategies for strengthening security across the state.

The Director-General urged commanders to remain committed to their responsibilities and avoid any actions capable of tarnishing the image and reputation of the Authority. He also charged them to intensify the sensitisation of officers under their command, stressing the importance of professionalism, discipline, and strict adherence to the law establishing the Authority.

Speaking at the meeting, the Secretary of the Authority, Aminu Lawal Batsari, charged participants to uphold professionalism in the administration and management of their respective units and commands. He warned that the Authority would no longer condone indiscipline, bribery, or the extortion of road users. He further emphasised that any personnel found engaging in such misconduct would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the established rules and regulations.

Also speaking, the State Commandant of the Authority, Dahiru Mani Bagiwa, called for practical measures to address incidents of violence involving KASSAROTA personnel and members of the public. He also stressed the need to explore strategies for improving internally generated revenue for the State Government.

The Secretary and the State Commandant jointly emphasised that security remains the foundation of every meaningful development. They noted that although KASSAROTA personnel are not armed, the training they have received and the uniform they wear place a responsibility on them to contribute significantly to maintaining peace, public order, and security across the state.

They further observed that, as the Authority is still relatively new, some challenges in its relationship with members of the public are expected. However, they stressed that officers must continue to demonstrate professionalism, restraint, and courtesy in the discharge of their duties.

In their separate remarks, some Zonal and Unit Commanders appealed to management to intervene and ensure Local Government authorities included KASSAROTA in all security meetings held at the local government level, in line with the directive of the Governor. They maintained that the Authority is an integral part of the state's security architecture and that its inclusion would strengthen inter-agency coordination and enhance the effectiveness of security operations across Katsina State.

The commanders also advocated stronger collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies, particularly in conducting joint patrols, roadblocks, and security checkpoints at strategic locations. According to them, such cooperation would significantly improve the effectiveness of KASSAROTA's operations and contribute to the overall security of the state.
