President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Engr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma as the North-West Zonal Director for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appointment is contained in the list of members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council released on Saturday.

The council will be chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice chairman, while APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as another vice chairman.

Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary.

The North-West election planning directorate, where Engr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma has been named zonal director, will work under the supervision of James Abiodun Faleke, who has been appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

Other zonal directors appointed to oversee election planning across the country are Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

The campaign council also named Senator Adams Oshiomhole as Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director-General for administration.

The legal directorate will be headed by Muiz Adeyemi Banire, while the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will serve as coordinating director for Media and Strategic Communication.

Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu are among those assigned coordinating responsibilities within the media directorate, while five spokespersons were appointed, led by Alake.

President Tinubu charged members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

The President also urged leaders of the various directorates to accommodate other party members who were not listed in the council but are willing to contribute to the campaign.

According to the statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu said the APC would campaign on the achievements of his administration and present its economic policies to Nigerians.

The President said the campaign should focus on communicating the administration’s record while offering Nigerians confidence in the country’s economic direction.

The APC’s campaign council appointments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
