Taurarin Matan APC targets women across 34 LGAs, 361 wards for Tinubu, Radda, other APC candidates

A political support group, Taurarin Matan APC (Women Divas), has announced plans to mobilise women across Katsina State to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

The state coordinator of the group, Huraira Usman, disclosed this on Monday at a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Katsina.

Usman said the organisation was established to mobilise women from the polling-unit level across the state in support of APC candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and other party candidates.

She said the group would focus its mobilisation campaign across the state’s 34 local government areas and 361 wards, targeting women voters of different age groups.

According to her, Taurarin Matan APC comprises educated women and girls, particularly those aged 22 and above, who are committed to political participation, leadership and community development.

“Our organisation is a women’s political campaign organisation established to mobilise women in Katsina State from the polling-unit level up to the voting of candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming 2027 general elections,” she said.

Women constitute decisive voting bloc

Usman described women as a critical voting bloc capable of influencing the outcome of the 2027 elections if properly organised.

She said Katsina State had 3,516,719 registered voters in the 2023 elections, while the Continuous Voter Registration exercise concluded in July 2026 added more than 135,000 newly registered voters in the state.

She further estimated that women account for about 1.8 million registered voters in Katsina, making them a potentially decisive electoral constituency.

“The Divas exists to organise that bloc for the APC,” she said.

She said the organisation would embark on extensive grassroots mobilisation, voter sensitisation and political education programmes across the state ahead of the elections.

Group plans women mobilisation campaign

The coordinator said the organisation’s immediate priority was to establish a strong grassroots network capable of reaching women at ward and polling-unit levels.

She said the group would also encourage women to become more involved in political leadership and contest elective positions.

“Our vision is to see Katsina State where women and girls are decisive, organised and respected forces behind APC electoral victories and full partners in the leadership and development of the state,” Usman said.

She added that the organisation would recruit, train and deploy educated women as professional political mobilisers.

APC administration’s achievements to be highlighted

Usman said the group would also use its mobilisation activities to sensitise women on programmes and policies implemented by APC-led administrations since 2023.

She said the campaign would highlight what the organisation considers achievements of the Tinubu administration at the federal level and the Radda administration in Katsina State.

According to her, the organisation would continue engaging women and encouraging them to participate actively in political processes rather than remaining passive voters.

She also assured women interested in joining the organisation that its doors were open to those willing to contribute to the political and socio-economic development of Katsina State.

The press conference marked the first major public activity announced by Taurarin Matan APC as it begins preparations for its statewide mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
