The Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Power and Energy, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed, was on Saturday honoured for his contributions to humanitarian service and community development.
The award was presented to him at the 5th Nigerian Humanitarian Awards and Magazine held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
Organisers of the event said the recognition was in appreciation of Dr. Hafiz’s commitment to youth and women empowerment, skills development, and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of vulnerable members of society.
Although his official duty is focused on advancing the power and energy sector in Katsina State, Dr. Hafiz said he has remained committed to serving humanity beyond his government assignment.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Hafiz described the honour as both a privilege and a renewed responsibility to do more for society.
He dedicated the award to his mother, saying she laid the foundation for his humanitarian work.
“I must sincerely appreciate my mother, who laid the foundation for my humanitarian activities. From her, I learnt that helping others is not merely something you talk about; it is something you demonstrate,” he said.
“I grew up learning by example, watching her show compassion and extend support to people around her. That experience has remained a guiding principle in my life.”
The governor’s aide also expressed gratitude to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, CON, for his guidance and support.
According to him, serving under the governor has deepened his understanding of purposeful public service and provided him the opportunity to impact the people directly.
“I am equally grateful to His Excellency, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, for his guidance, confidence and support. His leadership has continued to encourage us to think beyond conventional approaches to public service,” he added.
Dr. Hafiz stressed that humanitarian service should not be measured only by financial contributions, but by the willingness to identify needs and respond to them.
The Governor’s aide who received 10th awards within two months, reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives that promote self-reliance among youths and women, and strengthen communities across the state.
The 5th Nigerian Humanitarian Awards brought together stakeholders from government, business, civil society and philanthropy to recognise individuals and organisations making impact in humanitarian service and social development in Nigeria.
Dignitaries at the event includes Elder statesman Senator Abu Ibrahim ; Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on School Feeding; Alhaji Yusuf Bukar Mandara, the Dujima of Borno; Hon. Kabiru Lawal, Founder of the KLM Foundation; and Engr. Abdulaziz Kabir Abdullahi, Technical Assistant to the Katsina State Governor on Renewable Energy, among others.
