The Zamfara State Government has distributed a fleet of official vehicles to tertiary institutions and key government agencies across the state in a move aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and improving public service delivery.

Governor Dauda Lawal presented the vehicles to the benefiting institutions on Friday at the Government House in Gusau, describing the initiative as part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening public institutions and creating a more effective system of governance.

The beneficiaries include the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State University in Talata Mafara, Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gusau, as well as several education-related agencies and boards across the state.

Also receiving vehicles were the Teachers Service Board, Senior Secondary School Board, Quality Assurance Department, Zamfara College of Arts and Science (ZACAS), and other government establishments.

According to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the vehicles are institutional assets provided to facilitate official operations, supervision, accreditation exercises, monitoring activities and other responsibilities essential to the smooth running of the institutions.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the handover ceremony, Governor Lawal said the provision of the vehicles would enable public officials to carry out their duties more effectively by easing transportation challenges and improving mobility.

He stressed, however, that the vehicles were government property and should not be regarded as personal benefits by any office holder.

The governor cautioned that the assets must be used solely for official assignments and managed with a high sense of responsibility.

“These vehicles are not personal entitlements for any office holder. They belong to the Zamfara State Government and must be used responsibly and strictly for official purposes,” he said.

Lawal further directed heads of the benefiting institutions and agencies to ensure proper management of the vehicles, noting that they would be held accountable for their deployment, maintenance, documentation and overall condition.

He said the state government’s investment in education and public institutions must be complemented by a strong culture of accountability and maintenance to guarantee long-term value from public assets.

The governor emphasized that transparency, prudent management and responsible use of government property remain key principles of his administration’s reform agenda.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to providing infrastructure, equipment and other forms of institutional support aimed at improving the quality of higher education and public service delivery in Zamfara State.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, Lawal urged them to utilize the vehicles in ways that would advance the goals of their institutions, enhance service delivery and ultimately benefit students and residents of the state.

The distribution of the vehicles is part of the administration’s broader efforts to strengthen public institutions and improve operational capacity across critical sectors in Zamfara.
