Inspection focuses on readiness for installation of major power equipment

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Katsina Sub-Region, and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have inspected the 330/132/33kV transmission substation in Katsina ahead of the next phase of equipment installation.
The inspection was conducted on Thursday, September 24, 2026, as part of efforts to assess the readiness of the project site for the installation of major electrical equipment.
The TCN team was led by the Assistant General Manager (Transmission), Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman Idris, while the Imcomtel delegation was headed by Engr. Emmanuel Okafor.
During the inspection, the teams assessed ongoing civil works, equipment locations and other supporting infrastructure at the substation.
They also inspected two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the site on July 9, 2026, including the plinths designated for their installation.
The transformers are expected to increase the transmission capacity serving Katsina State and other parts of the North-West when installed and commissioned.
The teams further inspected four newly delivered control rooms to assess their readiness to accommodate protection, monitoring and control systems required for the operation of the substation.
At the end of the inspection, TCN and Imcomtel reviewed the remaining technical requirements and site preparations ahead of the next stage of the project.
The inspection team also included the Principal Manager, Engr. Mustapha Idowu, and heads of various technical departments.
