Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has signed the state’s N828.58 billion 2027 budget into law, describing it as the outcome of collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.

Radda signed the Appropriation Bill on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Government House in Katsina, shortly after the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasiru Yahaya Daura, presented the bill to him.

The budget, valued at N828,578,844,091.48, is intended to address the needs and priorities of residents across the state’s 34 local government areas, the governor said.

Radda commended the Speaker and members of the Assembly for their commitment to completing the budget process on schedule.

He said the budget was developed through a three-stage process designed to ensure that the needs of residents were reflected in government spending plans.

According to him, the first stage involved collecting the needs of residents across the 361 wards in the 34 local government areas.

He described the budget as a “people’s budget”, saying its priorities were derived from the grassroots.

“The budget did not come from the top; it came from the bottom, as it should. It is a people’s budget,” the governor said.

Radda said the second stage involved reviewing and assessing budget proposals submitted by ministries, departments and agencies, with the government examining the proposed expenditures to ensure appropriate allocation of the state’s resources.

He said the third stage was the legislative review, during which the House of Assembly invited ministries and agencies to defend their proposals before approving the budget and passing it into law.

The governor directed ministries, departments and agencies responsible for implementing the budget to execute projects on time and in accordance with approved standards, particularly in areas requiring urgent government intervention.

He also commended the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and other officials involved in preparing the budget.

Radda expressed hope that the government would be able to implement the budget effectively to accelerate development across Katsina State.

Earlier, Daura presented the Appropriation Bill to the governor after its passage by the House of Assembly.

He said the Assembly approved the N828,578,844,091.48 budget, comprising N190,726,262,820 for recurrent expenditure and N637,852,581,271.48 for capital expenditure.

The Speaker congratulated the governor on signing the budget and commended the executive and legislative arms for their cooperation during the budget process.

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting policies and programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of residents and promoting development across the state.

Daura also urged residents to continue supporting government efforts to develop the state.
