“NSITF Is Not Recruiting, Ignore Fake Job Offers” — Management Warns Nigerians

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has sounded the alarm over fake recruitment advertisements and appointment letters being circulated by fraudsters targeting unsuspecting job seekers.

The warning was contained in a public notice issued by the Fund and circulated to its Regional and Branch Managers through a memorandum dated October 5, 2026.

The memorandum, signed by NSITF Executive Director, Administration, Mr Samaila Abdu, urged members of the public to disregard any recruitment offer claiming to be from the organisation and to avoid making payments to individuals promising employment.

Abdu made it clear that the NSITF is not currently recruiting for any position, describing recruitment advertisements being circulated on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, as fraudulent.

“NSITF is not currently recruiting for any position, and advertisements circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, are fake,” he said.

According to him, the fake offers are part of a growing scheme in which individuals and groups falsely present themselves as representatives of the Fund in order to lure job seekers with promises of employment.

He warned Nigerians against responding to such adverts, submitting personal details or paying money in connection with purported NSITF vacancies.

“Members of the public are warned against responding to such advertisements or making payments to anyone in connection with purported employment opportunities,” Abdu said.

The NSITF stressed that it does not charge applicants any fee for employment and would not use unofficial social media accounts or unauthorised channels to conduct recruitment exercises.

The Fund said that whenever genuine vacancies become available, information would be released through its recognised official communication channels, urging applicants to verify any recruitment claim before taking action.

Abdu further directed all Regional and Branch Managers to prominently display the warning in their offices, including at reception areas, entrances and exits, notice boards and SERVICOM desks, to ensure that members of the public are adequately informed.

He also urged Nigerians, especially unemployed youths actively searching for work, to remain vigilant and report suspicious recruitment advertisements to the appropriate NSITF authorities.

The warning comes amid increasing cases of online recruitment scams in which fraudsters exploit the desperation of job seekers by promising government positions in exchange for money, personal information or other forms of payment.

The Fund advised Nigerians to treat unsolicited recruitment messages with caution and rely only on verified NSITF channels when seeking information about employment opportunities.
