Motorists and other road users have been thrown into uncertainty following reports that armed bandits blocked the Isa-Shinkafi highway in Zamfara State.
The reported incident was made public on Monday by conflict reporter and security advocate D English Alhaji, who shared a brief update on social media warning of the obstruction along the route.
“Bandits have blocked d Isa to shinkafi highway in Zamfara state,” Alhaji wrote.
Details surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report. It was not immediately known where along the highway the blockade occurred, how many armed men were involved or whether any travellers had been attacked, kidnapped or injured.
There was also no immediate confirmation of whether the road had been reopened or if security operatives had been deployed to the area to address the situation.
The reported blockade comes amid persistent security challenges across Zamfara and other parts of Nigeria’s North-West, where armed groups have carried out attacks on communities, abducted residents and disrupted movement along major routes.
Insecurity in the region has continued to affect daily activities, including transportation, farming and trade, with travellers frequently facing uncertainty over their safety on inter-community roads.
As of Monday, police and other security agencies had not issued an official statement confirming the reported incident or providing details of any response.
