The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has visited exhibition booths at the AI and Democracy Forum 2026 to explore emerging technologies that could support Nigeria’s electoral processes.
During the visit, Amupitan interacted with exhibitors and examined innovations designed to address electoral challenges, including election administration, information verification, transparency and public trust.
The exhibition provided a platform for showcasing how artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies could be applied to strengthen electoral processes and improve access to reliable information.
With Nigeria’s 2027 general elections approaching, discussions at the forum are focusing on identifying practical technological solutions that could enhance election management and promote transparency.
The engagement also highlights the growing role of technology in addressing electoral challenges and the need to assess how AI-driven innovations can be responsibly integrated into Nigeria’s electoral system.
