The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected fraudster, Sanusi Ahmed, for allegedly circulating counterfeit foreign currencies in a major crackdown on financial crimes.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives raided Ahmed’s residence in Sokoto Rima quarters on May 8, 2025, uncovering a cache of fake banknotes and other suspicious items. Among the recovered exhibits were:
- 345 counterfeit $100 bills
- 5 fake 10,000 CFA notes
- Two bottles of suspected "criminal charms"
- An empty perfume bottle
- A piece of white cloth
Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect is in custody as investigations continue to track down potential accomplices.
Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu praised the operatives and urged the public to remain vigilant, reaffirming the command’s commitment to combating crime in the state.
