The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening inter-agency collaboration to enhance national security and boost capacity development.
This resolve was underscored on 13 May 2025 during a courtesy visit by the Commandant of the Nigeria Immigration Training School, Kano, Comptroller Idris Ozigi, to the Customs Training College (CTC), Goron Dutse, Kano
Welcoming his counterpart, the Commandant of the Customs Training College, Comptroller Isah Aliyu, highlighted both services' critical role in border security and emphasised the need for continuous synergy. He described the long-standing relationship between the two institutions as “vital to the national interest” and pledged the college’s continued openness to partnerships that enhance professionalism.
“The Customs Training College remains committed to working with sister agencies,” said Comptroller Aliyu. “We value our collaboration with the Immigration Training School and will continue to strengthen our shared efforts in training and security.”
The visit focused on enhancing joint capacity-building initiatives, institutional cooperation, and opportunities for personnel exchange. Both commandants agreed that strengthening inter-agency ties is essential in fostering a well-trained and agile security workforce capable of responding to emerging challenges.
Comptroller Ozigi lauded the enduring partnership between the two institutions and reaffirmed the Immigration Service’s commitment to supporting joint initiatives in his remarks.
“We are dedicated to advancing the Customs–Immigration partnership through sustained knowledge sharing and capacity development,” he said. “This collaboration is crucial to achieving our collective training and security objectives.”
The engagement concluded with both leaders pledging to explore new avenues for collaboration while sustaining ongoing initiatives to enhance operational efficiency across both services.
