Amnesty International gave a gory statistics about the number of people killed, and the number of houses razed in the Northern Region in the last two years. The human rights group claimed that 10,217 and 672 people were wantonly killed, and houses sacked by outlaws, respectively.
Some of us may not agree with AI all the time, but nobody can pretend to be ignorant of the debilitating insecurity that engulfs a large swathe of the Northern region, particularly the North West and the North East. Again, no one can deny the unwanted existence of the Hausa/Fulani bandits, Boko Haram and Lakurawa, all terror groups operating mainly in the northern part of Nigeria.
And they operate without respect for any faith, although most of their victims are Muslims and Muslim villages. The fact of their not respecting any religion can be gleaned from the testimonies of some good people, even though some bad people among us make it look like it is affecting only the followers of a particular faith.
These are the groups of non state actors who have made life extremely challenging for many people in Nigeria, and whose presence is said to be not unnoticed by the authorities. The Military leader of Niger Republic, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, and some lesser mortals made the allegation.
The Niger Republic leader alleged that his country had caught many kingpins of the insurgents, kept them is separate detention places and invited Nigeria to share in the intelligence they got from the arrested bandits. He said that unfortunately, Nigeria did use the information for her benefit, but inform the foreign country (FRANCE) that was behind the plot to destabilise Nigeria by bringing in more, and NEW foreign bandits.
According to General Abdourahamane, FRANCE is the financial and material supporter of the LAKURAWA terrorist group. He named a former boss of one of the security agencies in the country as the person sent by Nigeria to the neighbouring country of Niger to collect the said intelligence, which was “narrated to him “first by myself and then by the individual detained bandits separately”.
Another alleged beneficiary of the ‘headache’ of the multitude of the victims of banditry is the pioneer Chairman of the anti graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribado, who is the current National Security Adviser (NSA), but who showed NO sympathy to the victims of insecurity in Nigeria. He is the same person who once accused his present boss, President Tinubu of “CORRUPTLY enriching himself from the coppers of Lagos State Government”, when he called the shots as GOVERNOR.
In a trending video clip, one Faruk from Kano, alleged that he had written a letter to three top officials of a State and the Federal government in 2022, advising them how to BRING to an end the intractable banditry in the country. The three included the then Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i, former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Usman Baba Alkali, former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Habu Sani. All the three, according to the writer, have replied him with dispatch, and treated him with courtesy and respect.
According to him, he wrote to four people in the present regime, and one organisation on the same topic in 2023 and 2024, out of which ONLY the National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu REFUSED to RESPOND to the letter. He disclosed that the three others had not only replied, but invited him to explain how to go about it. The three are the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the then Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Dr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi. The organisation is the National Human Rights Commission, which he claimed, had first asked him whether he had received a response from the Nuhu Ribadu (NSA).
He added that he had a court affidavit to the claim that he had made, “to cover himself in the event that some of those who were written to would deny the fact”. He claimed that the ONLY things he got from the NSA were threats to his life, and his family’s. He dared the National Security Adviser to go ahead and make good on the threats.
The indictment of compatriots on the social media on the security big men, and some so called Northerners is even more damning and damaging.
A bandit, who goes by the name of MASAKA (maybe an alias) told an unnamed journalist that some Military officers, and a few highly placed civilians, were greatly supporting the bandits in their HEINOUS criminal activities.
He however exempted Customs and Immigration services from among those supporting them, saying those doing it will not GIVE UP their participation easily because they are benefiting from the banditry in MILLIONS of Naira.
According to MASAKA, many of the bandits want to quit and spend the millions they have accumulated in RANSOMS by “traveling in our planes to see the world”, but the politicians among the sponsors of the banditry are not prepared for that. He alleged that the politicians get most of their money for their politicking from the banditry kingpins as their SHARE of the dastardly activities.
Even the Executive Governor of Borno State, Dr. Babagana Zulum alleged that Politicians and Security operatives have hand in the raging insecurity in the country, stating that the dreaded insurgents group, Boko Haram, has made a vengeful return to his state.
Additionally, it is annoying that some of the alleged Hausa/Fulani Muslim ‘terrorists’ in the North Central and Southern parts of the country are purely native MILITIAS. But whether they are engaged in the fight between themselves, or engaged in purely terrorist activities, always pretend to be Hausa/Fulani after the dastardly activities. The REAL perpetrators are only known after the capture and confession of one, some or the all of those who undertook the atrocities or crimes.
It has happened several times, and the fact only came to light when security agencies, especially the Nigerian Police, arrest the suspects, for the crime that would have otherwise been blamed on Hausa/Fulani Muslims. It should be noted that not all Hausas or Fulani in the North are Muslims. Also, some Fulani in the North central states such as Kwara, are non Muslims who do not even speak Hausa. Many Hausa people in all parts of the country do not speak Fulfulde, the language of the Fulani (Fullata).
The INDICTMENTS on some top politicians and security people belonging to both religions, in the ravaging insecurity prevalent in the country, are just too many on the social media to mention all.
For the information of the ‘SojaZ of Christ 11 Timothy 2:3’, who claimed that “only Muslims are dying of hunger in the country”, insecurity and criminal activities of other hues, not unlike poverty and hunger, respect no religious boundary. The two evils affect Muslims no less than they affect other religions. Both faiths suffer the effects, and feel the impact, of the twin evils equally.
Meanwhile, we continue to suffer the INEFFICIENCY of the CORRUPT Tinubu regime by going two days without electricity. Our line was said to have (AGAIN) FALLEN, which was about seven times in as many WEEKS.
May God continue to EXPOSE the enemies of the Nigerian citizens, some of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, (caused) for the worldly satisfaction of the GREED of some few in the country.
