The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education is set to partner with the Federal College of Education (FCE), Katsina, to introduce vocational and entrepreneurial skills acquisition programmes in public schools across the state.

This follows a courtesy visit by Dr. Oscar Ikwa Kwam, Director of the Directorate of Skills Development and Linkages at FCE Katsina, who led a team to the ministry’s headquarters on Monday, June 16, 2025. The visit, which took place at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, focused on forging a sustainable partnership aimed at equipping students with practical skills for self-reliance and economic empowerment.

In her response, the Honourable Commissioner, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, expressed strong support for the initiative, describing it as a welcome development that aligns with the Katsina State Government’s broader vision to empower youth through practical and skills-based education.

“This collaboration is in line with our ongoing efforts to provide students with tools for sustainable livelihoods,” Musawa stated. She further highlighted the ministry’s recent launch of the Young Farmers Club, a programme designed to integrate agricultural knowledge and practice into the curriculum of public schools in the state.

The Commissioner pledged the ministry’s full cooperation in working with FCE Katsina to actualize the programme, stressing the importance of preparing students for life beyond the classroom.

The meeting was attended by top officials from the ministry, including the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Ummulkhairi Ahmed Bawa; Director of Senior Schools, Raliya Yusuf Jiba; Director of Private and Community Schools, Nasiru Ahmed; Director of Quality Assurance, Aliyu Muhd Lawal; and Director of ICT and Vocational Education, Ibrahim Danzaria.
