Faskari, Katsina State — July 8, 2025 —

A combined team of security operatives successfully repelled a bandits’ attack on three villages in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Tuesday evening, although the encounter claimed the lives of three police officers and one civilian.

The affected communities Kadisau, Raudama, and Sabon Layi, came under attack around 5:00pm, as armed bandits reportedly stormed the area attempting to kidnap residents and rustle livestock.

Acting swiftly on a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area led a team of officers to the scene with reinforcements from the Dandume division and operatives of the Nigerian Air Force 213 Forward Operating Base (FOB), Air Component.

According to police authorities, the operatives engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, leading to the neutralisation of several of the assailants while others fled with gunshot wounds.

Tragically, three police officers paid the ultimate price during the exchange, alongside a civilian who was also caught in the violence.

Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, commended the gallantry and sacrifice of the slain officers, describing them as heroes who died in active service. He offered prayers for the repose of their souls and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

CP Shehu further reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security outpost.
