The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has organised a 2025 Capacity Building Workshop for Law Enforcement Agencies in Lekki, Lagos State, aimed at enhancing inter-agency collaboration in the investigation and prosecution of financial malpractices in the banking sector.

Themed "Investigating and Prosecuting Financial Malpractices in Banks", the workshop brought together senior officials from the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Ministry of Justice, and other key stakeholders in financial regulation and law enforcement.

In one of the sessions, the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NDIC, Mrs Emily C. Osuji, was seen alongside AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Lagos, and the Director of NDIC Legal Department, Mr Olufemi Kushimo, as they discussed the importance of institutional synergy in tackling complex financial crimes.

A separate session featured Superintendent Eyitayo Johnson of the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Assistant Director David Kasuwe of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sirajo Malumfashi, and Dr Michael Oladele, former Director of Bank Examination Department, NDIC, in a strategic group engagement on fraud detection mechanisms and legal frameworks for prosecution.

The event concluded with a group photograph of Mrs Osuji and participants, symbolising a shared commitment to strengthening legal and investigative processes against financial misconduct in Nigeria’s banking industry.

NDIC reiterated its commitment to capacity development for security and legal agencies as part of its broader mandate to promote transparency, protect depositors, and ensure financial system stability.
