The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been honoured with the prestigious WSIS 2025 Prize in recognition of its outstanding efforts in enhancing access to information and digital knowledge across the country.

During the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes Awards ceremony, held in Geneva, Switzerland, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, received the award from the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin.

The Commission’s Digital Awareness Programme (DAP) was selected as the winner in Category C3: Access to Information and Knowledge, highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and inclusion through impactful ICT initiatives.

The award underscores the NCC's ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide and empower Nigerian citizens, particularly students and underserved communities, with the skills and tools needed to thrive in the digital age.

The WSIS Prizes are globally recognised accolades that honour individuals, governments, private sector organisations, civil society groups, and international bodies for outstanding contributions to building inclusive and people-centred information societies.
