Armed bandits on Thursday night attacked the residence of former Kankia Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Tafashiya, in Tafashiya town, Kankia LGA of Katsina State, and abducted members of his family.
However, the swift response of the Kankia Divisional Police prevented tragedy, as officers engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel and successfully rescued all the abducted victims unharmed.
Local sources commended the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team for their prompt mobilization, tactical coordination, and exceptional bravery during the operation.
Community members said the incident highlights the importance of proactive and rapid-response policing in areas vulnerable to banditry across the state.
