Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has mourned the passing of Chief Dan Ochima Agbese, the renowned journalist and Newswatch co-founder, who died Monday at age 81.

In a statement from Government House, Radda called Agbese "a towering voice of truth," praising his mastery of language, courage, and decades shaping Nigerian journalism. "He was an institution whose pen inspired generations," the governor said.

Born in Agila, Benue State, Agbese edited Nigeria Standard and New Nigerian, managed Radio Benue, and led Newswatch as Editor-in-Chief. His columns in Daily Trust and The Guardian continued influencing readers until recently.

Radda extended condolences to Agbese's wife Rose, family, and colleagues like Ray Ekpu and Yakubu Muhammed. He urged the media to draw from Agbese's legacy of integrity and national dedication.

The governor prayed for strength for the family and Benue community, affirming Agbese's enduring impact on journalism.
