Katsina Begins Registration for 2025 Skills Acquisition Programme
The Katsina State Agency for Mass Education has begun registration for its 2025 Community Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme, aimed at providing youths with vocational skills to promote self-reliance and improve livelihoods.
Registration is taking place at the Social Development Training Centre, Filin Samji, in Katsina metropolis. Officials said the exercise started on December 9 and will run for three weeks.
The programme is open to men and women aged 18 and above, with particular focus on individuals who did not have access to formal Western education. It is designed to enhance employability and support small-scale entrepreneurship across the state.
Speaking during the commencement of registration, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, said the initiative aligns with the state government’s policy on skills development and youth empowerment.
The Executive Director of the agency, Bilkisu Mohammed Kaikai, explained that the training will be delivered in two main areas. These include footwear production—such as modern and traditional shoes, slippers and boots—and the production of cosmetics and household items, including local perfumes and kula cham.
She added that the programme has the approval of the Katsina State Government as part of efforts to empower youths and improve living standards, especially among those without formal education.
Also speaking, the programme coordinator, Chucks Okehie, said the agency is committed to ensuring effective delivery of the vocational training.
The agency has urged interested and eligible residents to register within the approved timeframe.
