Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged to pay the school fees of 100 students from Muduru, Mani Local Government Area, through his Gwagwaren Foundation, as four new schools were commissioned to expand educational opportunities in the community.

Radda announced the support on Thursday during a visit to Muduru, where he commended the Dardisu/Fatima Foundation for investing in education and establishing schools to serve children in the area.

The four institutions are Alhaji Dardisu Primary School and Fadimatu Integrated Academy in Muduru, Madarasatu Fadimatu Litaritil Qur’an in Tsaagem, and Madarasatu Talba Zakariya’u Ibrahim Litahfizul Qur’an Wad-Durasatul Islamiyya in Turaf.

The governor said helping vulnerable people should not be tied to politics or personal interests, urging wealthy individuals and organisations to support children whose families may struggle to afford education.

“This is not about politics; it is about uplifting vulnerable young people and women who need support,” Radda said.

He also called on philanthropists to invest in both conventional and Islamic education, stressing that children need opportunities to acquire knowledge, develop good values and fulfil their potential.

For Radda, the visit also carried a personal connection. He described Muduru as a place close to his family history, recalling his roots in the community and expressing gratitude for the support his family had received over the years.

The founder of the Dardisu/Fatima Foundation, Alhaji Abubakar Dardisu, said the schools had been provided with essential facilities and qualified teachers, with fees kept relatively affordable to make education accessible to more families.

Associate Professor Jamilu Zarewa urged wealthy individuals to embrace Sadaqatu Jariya by supporting projects in education, healthcare and community development that would continue benefiting people for generations.

Professor Gide Umar Saleh also said Fadimatu Integrated Academy had been equipped to provide a suitable learning environment, describing it as a potential example for other communities.

However, the event was not limited to celebrating new schools. Community elders used the opportunity to draw the state government's attention to infrastructure needs, particularly roads linking their settlements.

Speaking on behalf of the elders, Sheikh Mallam Falalu Abdullahi Muduru appealed to the government to extend road projects to the Ajiwa area and prioritise the road linking Tsaagem to Dankama.

He also acknowledged government interventions in healthcare, school fencing, teacher recruitment and the recognition of Muduru's traditional institution.

The Chairman of Mani Local Government Area, Hon. Inusa Bagiwa, commended the state government's attention to the area, while Dardisu thanked Radda for granting Muduru district-head status.

The commissioning brought together government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders and education stakeholders, with the new institutions expected to widen access to learning in Muduru and neighbouring communities.
