Chairman Miqdad pledges continued support for youth empowerment

The Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isa Miqdad Ad Saude, has led the graduation ceremony of 70 youths he sponsored to undergo training in solar panel installation. The event also featured the free distribution of solar tools to the graduates to enable them to start their own businesses.

The graduation ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Multi-purpose Women Centre in Katsina. The event was attended by the representative of the District Head, Member of the State House of Assembly for Katsina Constituency, Katsina LG APC Chairman, councillors, and ward party leaders.

Engr. Abdulqadir Albaba, head of Next Innovative Hub—the company that conducted the one-month training—commended the chairman for his commitment to empowering youths. He expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the program and praised the decision to equip the trainees with solar toolkits.

"We spent a full month training these youths on solar panel installation. Today, they are not only graduating, but they’re also going home with tools that will help them become self-reliant," Engr. Albaba stated. "If you hold onto this skill, you’ll secure your future. Many of us here also started with this craft."

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Ali Abu Albaba, Member of the Katsina State House of Assembly, applauded Chairman Miqdad’s efforts to create employment opportunities for the youth.

"Everyone is aware of the power supply challenges in Nigeria. More people are shifting towards solar energy. It’s encouraging that these youths are now trained to install and repair solar systems, which is a growing need in our society," he said.

In his remarks, Chairman Isa Miqdad explained that the application process for the training was conducted online to ensure fairness and equal opportunity.

"Honestly, I’m meeting most of these trainees for the first time. That’s because the selection was done transparently through an online application process—not through personal connections," Miqdad stated.

He assured the public that his administration would continue to introduce development programs transparently and called on residents of Katsina LG to take advantage of future opportunities.
