The Federal Government has handed over 129 completed housing units to beneficiaries at the Nasarawa Technology Village in Karu, Nasarawa State, as part of efforts to make affordable housing more accessible to Nigerians.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, disclosed this on Sunday, August 31, 2026, saying the initiative was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Housing Agenda.
The housing units were funded by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) and developed by Modern Shelter Systems and Services Limited under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement with the Nasarawa State Government.
Darma said the Federal Government was committed to improving the lives of Nigerians through increased access to decent and affordable housing.
“The Renewed Hope Housing Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu places housing at the heart of improving the lives of Nigerians. Today, we are handing over keys to 129 Nigerian families,” the Minister said.
“I want to assure Nigerians that more houses will be delivered by December 2026.”
The Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to provide 100,000 houses to Nigerians before the end of President Tinubu's first term in office.
He said the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development would continue to work towards achieving the target.
Darma congratulated the beneficiaries for their patience and endurance, assuring that the remaining 122 beneficiaries would receive their keys by December 2026, bringing the total number of housing units to 251.
He explained that the beneficiaries had earlier been unable to receive allocations at the Brains and Hammers Bungalow City, which was subsequently allocated to Nigerian military personnel.
The Minister expressed delight over the appreciation shown by the beneficiaries, describing their commendation as a motivation for the government to continue delivering on its housing commitments.
“It is a motivation for us to continue to deliver,” he said.
In his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Shehu Usman Osidi, commended Darma for his leadership and efforts towards actualising the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda.
Osidi also praised Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, describing him as a pace-setter in the implementation of the Federal Government's housing programme.
According to him, Sule was the first state governor to allocate land to the Federal Government for the Renewed Hope Housing initiative and personally presented the Certificate of Occupancy for the land to the Ministry in Abuja.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for making their dreams of home ownership a reality.
They thanked President Tinubu and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development for the intervention, which they said had given them the opportunity to become homeowners.
The delivery of the 129 housing units, according to the Ministry, underscores the Federal Government's commitment to expanding access to affordable housing and ensuring that more Nigerian families benefit from the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of keys to some of the beneficiaries by the Minister.
